Sony water-friendly Xperia Z smartphone

Sony unveiled their new smartphone that can resist a „bath" without a risk of damage. The water-resistant feature is more common in Japan, however it has not been included in many top-end smartphones released elsewhere.

Sony says the handset, which has a 5in (12.7cm) screen, is capable of being submerged in water in depth of one metre for 30 minutes. In addition to the water resistance, it also resists dust.

Sony Xperia Z will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and can also record high dynamic range video. It features a 13-megapixel camera, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, a 5-inch full-1080p "reality" display, and it is only 7.9 millimetres thick.
