Smartphone and Mobile sales under the microscope

The International Data Corporation (IDC) estimated that the global mobile shipments in the second quarter of 2011 were 365.4 million units, including feature phones and Smartphones. That's up 11.3% year-on-year from the 328.4 million phones that IDC thinks shipped in Q2 2010.

There are many app developers focusing mainly on Smartphones, enprovia being one of them. So looking at the Q2 statistics, Apple sold 20.4 million iPhones, Nokia sold 16.7 million, HTC has announced selling 12.1 million Smartphones, LG 5.4 million, Sony Ericsson 5.3 million and Motorola 4.1 million. Samsung declined to give exact figures for its Smartphone sales in Q2 and RIM's financial year doesn't follow the calendar year, so they provided the stats saying that in its fiscal quarter ending on 28 May, it shipped 13.2 million BlackBerry Smartphones.

There are various estimates and predictions for sales of Smartphones but there is a variety of factors influencing the sales of each device or Smartphone application so saying that the one Smartphone or device will win over another would not be right. Let's observe how the market develops and what it is going to require in near future.
