Apple's year-on-year iPhone sales

Apple has had another record quarter, also thanks to strong sales of iPhones, iPads and record sales of Mac computers. The company also made it official, that the next version of the iPhone would be released in September, proving the previous rumors right.

As the chief executive, Steve Jobs, claimed on Tuesday this week, the firm's revenues were $28.57bn (up 90% year-on-year) and profits $7.31bn (up 124%), as it sold 20.34 million iPhones, which is more than double the number sold last year.

With the sales so high up, Apple will almost certainly have passed the formerly dominant Nokia to become the second-largest seller of Smartphones in the world. Nokia's report for the past quarter is expected to be in red.
